Andrea Marks Joseph READ TIME: 15 MIN.

It's a big month for this season's Oscar-nominated films with queer leading actors and queer themes ("Queer," "Sing Sing," "Wicked," and "Nosferatu") coming into your home.

But if you've already seen them in theaters and are not in the mood for a rewatch, "Mid-Century Modern," the new gay "Golden Girls" inspired sitcom starring Matt Bomer looks wonderful, and "Survival of the Thickest" Season 2 sees Mavis traveling to Rome to live her best life and revolutionize the high fashion world by creating gorgeous plus-size clothing.

We've got ambitious, eerie, offbeat films, too! Nicole Kidman is a not-quite Stepford Wife seeing her husband clearly for the first-time in "Holland," and "The Parenting" is a horror comedy about a gay couple introducing their parents on a joint countryside vacation that turns out to be in a haunted house.

The documentaries dropping this month includes "Larissa: The Other Side of Anitte," an intimate look at how fame has impacted Brazilian bisexual popstar Anitta's daily life; "Number One on the Call Sheet" is an ode to the culture, a two-part documentary focused on the Black women and men who have been making their mark and carving out a path for others in Hollywood. We're also really looking forward to reuniting with "The Righteous Gemstones" family in a final season that will be the first to explore what Kelvin's (Adam Devine) life looks like after a gay kiss in front of his family.

All this, and much more. Happy Streaming!

"Nosferatu"

The never-before-seen extended cut of Robert Eggers' Oscar-nominated reimagining of the 1922 classic gothic horror film is now available to watch at home. The official "Nosferatu" logline says it's "a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake." "Nosferatu" follows Ellen (queer actor Lily-Rose Depp,) a young woman in the 1800s who awakened a mysterious monster (Bill Skarsgård) one night as a girl when she was pleading for "a guardian angel, a spirit of comfort... anything" to ease her loneliness. The monster made Ellen pledge herself to him... eternally. So, years later, when Ellen's husband Thomas (Nicholas Hoult) meets this monster during a business trip to Transylvania, he finds himself suddenly in the middle of a violent, bloody vampire saga. Queer actor Emma Corrin, Willem Dafoe, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are in the supporting cast.

"Nosferatu" is now streaming on Peacock.

"Larissa: The Other Side of Anitta"

This is a Netflix documentary focused on exploring the two sides of bisexual Brazilian superstar Anitta: Her powerful, global pop persona Anitta, and Larissa, the more sensitive, emotional side of herself where she's able to be more vulnerable. The documentary is shot so intimately that it feels like she's talking directly to us, making the whole experience even more personal when she lets us into her life. "While Anitta reaches ever-greater heights," the logline reads, "Larissa has to grapple with the challenges of success. Her journey toward self-discovery is presented from the perspective of a crush from her youth, who wishes to introduce the real Larissa to the world." The documentary also features major performances in Anitta's career, including scenes from Rio's Carnaval, her international awards show wins, her banger of a Coachella set, and her song "Envolver" topping global charts.

"Larissa: The Other Side of Anitta" streams March 6 on Netflix.

"The Traitors: UK" Season 3

Each country's version of hit show "The Traitors" has been a new flavor of fantastic, fiercely bingeable TV, and the UK series is no exception. Claudia Winkleman and her unmistakably heavy bangs (and even heavier knitwear) returns as the show's host, and the Scottish castle-set shenanigans are as unpredictable, twisty, and shocking as ever. This season's contestants include two sisters who must navigate whether they're acting differently because they're in the castle, or because one of them is really a traitor; and Minah, who announces "It's giving reading!" as soon as she sits down at the castle library, goes on to enforce some legendary "Traitors" tactics. There's an impossibly charming former British diplomat who has a surprising comeback story. A queer soldier with a wife and kids back home arrives in a Barbie pink suit with a long-game to pretend she's a nail technician. And there's a woman who pretends to be Welsh for no reason at all with literally zero effect, but she keeps going because she's committed to the bit!

"The Traitors: UK" Season 3 streams March 6 on Peacock.

"The Righteous Gemstones" Season 4

This will be the final season of this absolute gem of a comedy: "They're raising holy hell one last time." The religious camp chaos continues, with outrageous church monetizing adventures and hilarious family shenanigans (Megan Mullaly joins the cast this season, and fear not, "The White Lotus" did not take Walton Goggins from us; he's in this, too!). Judy's husband BJ (Tim Baltz) gets super into pole dance classes. Kelvin (Adam Devine) and Keefe (Tony Cavalero) are out as gay to their family but not the church, while leading a queer ministry called Prism.

In the trailer, Kelvin calls Keefe (who says he's the happiest he's ever been) his "mans." Also new and shiny in their church: luxury prayer pods, which the family proclaim as "the future of worship" but quickly devolve into rooms to fart and have sex in. More than anything, we hope the show leans into the power in its queer heart. Amen!

"The Righteous Gemstones" Season 4 streams March 9 on Max.

"The Parenting"

"I'm stuck in a haunted house with my f*cking parents!" It could happen to anyone.

Rohan (Nik Dodani) and Josh (Brandon Flynn) decide the best way to introduce their parents to each other is to rent a house for a perfect countryside weekend where they can spend time getting to know each other. Unfortunately, while you're supposed to be bonding, you realize the house you rented is inhabited by a 400-year-old poltergeist, and it's trying to possess and kill you.

"The Parenting" is a gay horror comedy filled with family tension and frightening fun. Have we mentioned the cast? The "more traditional" parents are played by Edie Falco and "Succession" star Brian Cox, while their laid-back counterparts are played by Lisa Kudrow and "Breaking Bad" star Dean Norris, and the home rental is managed by an "eccentric local" played by Parker Posey. When one of the parents becomes possessed by this entity, "it's up to the young couple and their meddlesome BFF Sara (Vivian Bang) to unite the families and stop the evil entity once and for all."

"The Parenting" streams March 13 on Max.

"Top Chef Season 22" and "Top Chef: The Dish with Kish" Season 2

Season 22 of Bravo's hit cooking competition show is set in Canada, showcasing its rich culinary scene – going so far as to feature the contestants getting drenched by Niagara Falls. This season brings back fan-favorite judges queer chef Kristen Kish, gay icon Tom Colicchio, and Canada's own Gail Simmons. Queer comedian Punkie Johnson guest stars as a judge, and so does Michael Cera. As always, professional chefs from around the world face the heat of competing in intense culinary challenges to claim the prestigious "Top Chef" title. Each episode will be a "supersized" 75 minutes long and the prize will be supersized, too: "They're here to fight for the biggest prize ever," Kish announces in the trailer: "Over half a million dollars [is] up for grabs." Kristen Kish's weekly show "The Dish with Kish," where guest chefs create unique dishes inspired by challenges from the most recently aired episode, is back at the same time.

"Top Chef" Season 22 and "Top Chef: The Dish with Kish" Season 2 stream March 14 on Peacock.

"Sing Sing"

"Sing Sing" is a moving, groundbreaking, thought-provoking story that celebrates the impact of the Arts and the importance of connecting through art. The film is based on a real-life program that invited incarcerated men to join the arts and perform in theatrical stage shows, allowing them to "[escape] the reality of incarceration through the creativity of staging a play." Directed by Greg Kwedar, "Sing Sing" is about Divine G (out actor and red carpet style icon Colman Domingo) who, while imprisoned at Sing Sing for a crime he didn't commit, finds purpose by acting in a theatre group alongside other incarcerated men, including a wary newcomer (Clarence Maclin). It's hopeful and joyous, and an absolute must-see.

"Sing Sing" streams March 21 on Max.

"Wicked"

This gorgeous cinematic imagining of one of the most beloved and enduring stage musicals (and the star of the longest green-and-pink press tour of all time) will soon be available to watch at home as many times as you'd like, complete with bonus content and a sing-along version.

"Wicked" follows the coming-of-age story of the witches of Oz, with Elphaba played by glorious queer actor Cynthia Erivo, who got within touching distance of an EGOT for this performance; and superstar Ariana Grande as the popular Glinda. The film documents their powerful unlikely friendship after meeting at Shiz University, and how everything changes after they meet the Wizard of Oz. Beautiful performances from out actors Jonathan Bailey, Bowen Yang, Marissa Bode, Bronwyn James, and Sharon D. Clarke make this inherently queer film even more queer than it already is at its core.

"Wicked" streams March 21 on Peacock.

"The Studio" Season 1

In this ambitious new comedy, we follow the chaotic Hollywood industry life of Matt Remick (Seth Rogen), the newly appointed head of struggling film studio Continental. Remick is a man who loves movies but now has "this fear that [his] job is to ruin them." The show is clearly aiming to peel back the layers of production and satirize all the influence and impact that studios have on the careers of people who are desperate to simply make art. "The Studio" sees Matt wrestling with the possibility of meeting corporate demands and following his creative ambitions at the same time – in fact, the show's tag line is "Hollywood. Where dreams go to die." We're most excited to see Kathryn Hahn ("Agatha All Along,") "Genera+ion" star Chase Sui Wonders, and Catherine O'Hara ("Schitt's Creek") on our screens in this. Gay actor Dewayne Perkins has a recurring role, and we're sure he'll be playing another fantastic queer comedic character. There are also cameos from so many celebs playing themselves, including Greta Lee, Zac Efron, and Adam Scott.

"The Studio" Season 1 streams March 26 on AppleTV+.

"Survival of the Thickest" Season 2

The joyous, chaotic comedy created by Michelle Buteau and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel is back for more messy fun. Bubbly, energetic Mavis (Buteau) is thrilled to be in Italy, still passionate about making sure "thick girls" are the movement, not just a moment. She's working towards making plus-size high fashion a reality. We spot queer actor Jerrie Johnson ("Harlem") as a sapphic love interest in the trailer, and many incredible drag queens feature all throughout the show. The ensemble cast of Mavis and her friends continues to shine, while queer performers Monét X Change and Honey Balenciaga are among the guest star additions this season. Buteau previously told Netflix Tudum that the series is her "love letter to all the fatty baddies, oddie bodies, and beautiful-ass freaks that I've met growing up [in New York.]"

We're so ready to tune in for more!

"Survival of the Thickest" Season 2 streams March 27 on Netflix.

"Holland"

"Holland" is a thrilling domestic drama starring Nicole Kidman as a teacher in a small midwestern town who suspects her "community pillar" husband ("Succession" star Matthew Macfadyen) of living a double life, "but things may be worse than she initially imagined." Directed by Mimi Cave ("Fresh") and set in the surreal, picturesque town of Holland, Michigan – an actual place known for its Dutch-themed, tulip-filled attraction – the story takes a dark turn when Nancy and her friend (Gael García Bernal) grow suspicious upon discovering a twisted, revealing secret. "Holland" is giving "Don't Worry Darling" with its perfect homemaker wife waking up to the realization that the community rules and boundaries she's terrified to step out of line from are actually protecting something truly dark. Rachel Sennott ("Bottoms") is a supporting cast member, playing a woman named Candy Deboer.

"Holland" streams March 27 on Prime Video.

"Queer"

Based on the semi-autobiographical 1985 novel by William S. Burroughs, this buzzy, stylish A24 film is set in 1950s Mexico City. "Queer" follows the mesmerizing arrival of young former soldier Eugene Allerton (Drew Starkey) into town and into the life of expat William Lee (Daniel Craig), who is immediately and hopelessly attracted to him. Eugene's elusive, inescapable energy and William's desire to know and understand him leads William to pursue him at bars all over town, wondering about the distance Eugene, who is often out with a woman, insists on keeping from him. The palpable connection and sexual tension between them lead the couple into many steamy encounters, and even into the jungle to find a drug that may help deepen their relationship. Out musician Omar Apollo is in this film, too.

"Queer" streams March 28 on Max.

"Mid-Century Modern" Season 1

Nathan Lane, Matt Bomer, and Nathan Lee Graham star in this Ryan Murphy executive-produced, Palms Springs-set, "Golden Girls" inspired series created by the team behind "Will & Grace." "Mid-Century Modern" is a sitcom about three gay best friends who, "after an unexpected death, decide to spend their golden years living together in Palm Springs where the wealthiest one [Nathan Lane's character, Bunny] lives with his mother." Bunny's mother was played by Linda Lavin, who died while they were midway through filming this series. The production confirmed that they adjusted the storyline to reflect reality.

Zane Phillips is in the trailer, potentially as a one-episode hookup, but of course we'll hope to see him more than that. "Modern Family" star Jesse Tyler Ferguson is seen in the trailer as well, and "Better Things" actor Pamela Adlon is also in this.

"Mid Century Modern" Season 1 streams March 28 on Hulu.

"Number One on the Call Sheet" Season 1

This two-part documentary film invites the Black stars of a remarkable, revolutionary past when their presence on our screens was a marvel, alongside decades of modern film icons for whom they blazed a trail (some of them now literal Marvel stars). The documentary seeks to honor the legends and acknowledge the bright future we have if we allow the up-and-coming generation of stars to shine as brightly as they deserve. The two parts are arranged by gender: "Number One on the Call Sheet: Black Leading Men in Hollywood" features actors including Idris Elba, Daniel Kaluuya, Eddie Murphy, Denzel Washington and fierce trans ally Marlon Wayans. In "Number One on the Call Sheet: Black Leading Women in Hollywood," we hear moving and motivating stories from incredible actors including Viola Davis, Whoopi Goldberg, queer "Wicked" star Cynthia Erivo, and passionate trans ally Gabrielle Union.

"Number One on the Call Sheet" Season 1 streams March 28 on AppleTV+.
