"Missouri Republican Senator Josh Hawley raised eyebrows after sharing a photo on X of himself with conservative Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker on a football field on October 11 – which just so happened to be National Coming Out Day," the website ComicSands reported.

The post came after Butker endorsed him over the weekend while announcing he'd launched UPRIGHT PAC, a political action committee designed to court Christian voters.

"Arriving with ⁦@buttkicker7 to Poplar Bluff last night," Hawley wrote in a comment with a definite queer vibe.

The photo shows them smiling as they walk in step across a football field. If the world didn't know Hawley is one of the Senate's leading homophobes and Butker as having 15 minutes of fame for a misogynistic and anti-LGBTQ+ commencement speech earlier this year, the pic would look like something a gay couple might post in Instagram.

Plus, posting it on National Coming Out Day only added to the queer subtext, as many were quick to point out on X.
