The out CNN anchor revealed the name of his newborn second son: Sebastian Luke Maisani-Cooper.

People Magazine detailed how Cooper made the announcement of Sebastian's birth on the Feb. 10 segment of "Anderson Cooper 360."

Cooper prefaced the introduction of the newborn by telling viewers he wanted to share some "good news, which also happens to be very personal news." The openly gay anchor showed photos of his firstborn son, Wyatt, whose brightened the out journalist's life during the "early dark days of the pandemic in April of 2020," Cooper said.

After showing viewers photos of Wyatt as a newborn, Cooper showed an updated image, saying, "This is Wyatt today. He is nearly 22 months old. He is sweet, funny, and the greatest joy of my life."

"If he looks particularly happy in this picture, it's because he now has a baby brother," Cooper went on to say. Showing a photo of the new baby, he added: "This is Sebastian Luke Maisani-Cooper. He was 6.8 pounds at birth and he was healthy and happy and even his occasional hiccups, are to me, adorable. He mostly just sleeps and eats and certainly poops, but he already seems like a wise and thoughtful little chap."

If the new arrival's double last name seems surprising, there's a reason for it. Cooper had one more revelation in store: Although the two are not together, his ex, Benjamin Maisani, will be adopting both boys. Maisani is a co-parent for Wyatt, Cooper explained, and remains Cooper's best friend. Maisani will also co-parent Sebastian, the CNN anchor said.

"Wyatt calls me 'daddy' and Benjamin 'papa,'" Cooper said. "We're a family. Benjamin is also in the process of adopting Wyatt, whose last name will be changed to Maisani-Cooper as well."

Welcoming the new arrival was a family endeavor, Cooper said, relating how "Wyatt helped us put together Sebastian's crib," and that Wyatt "calls his little brother by his middle name, Luke. 'Sebastian' is a mouthful for a 22-month-old."

After thanking "the amazing doctors and nurses who helped bring Sebastian into the world" as well as "the surrogate who carried Sebastian and gave birth to him," Cooper spoke of his family of origin — his mother, father, and brother, all deceased. "The family I was born into may be gone, but I feel them alive in the family we've created: New love and new life."
