EDGE Rewind: Watch: With MCU Debut, the Internet is Thirsting for Will Poulter
EDGE is reaching into its archive and sharing some of our favorite stories from the past.
"Midsommar" star Will Poulter is the latest celeb to be snatched up by the Marvel Cinematic Universe dominating Hollywood. And like a story similar to "Eternals" star Kumail Nanjiani, Poulter is also the latest actor to undergo an eye-popping body transformation.
At Comic Con over the weekend, fans got their first look at the third "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie with a fresh new trailer that teased a lot of exciting things including, what Variety writes is a "super-buff Adam Warlock, played by MCU newcomer Will Poulter."
Speaking with the outlet at the event Poulter, who was just earned an Emmy nomination for the Hulu drama "Dopesick," was asked about his training regimen for the role, stressing the importance of mental health.
"I'm really lucky, I work with an amazing team of people who really took care of my mental health through the process of going through all the physical challenges," he said. "I have so much of the hard work done for me; it was actually my job to train and eat and I've got no complaints and I'm very grateful for the team to help me through it."
He previously spoke out about his regimen and told the Independent in April that he "wouldn't recommend anyone do what I did to get ready for that job," referring to Adam Warlock, a character genetically engineered to be "perfect."
"The most important thing is that your mental and physical health has to be number one, and the aesthetic goals have to be secondary," he added. "Otherwise, you end up promoting something that is unhealthy and unrealistic if you don't have the financial backing of a studio paying for your meals and training. I'm in a very privileged position in that respect."
Nevertheless, thirsty fans are here for Poulter's body transformation. Check out some of the funniest tweets below.
